How to Cite QSTI Assessment Instruments
The Qigong Sensory Training Institute (QSTI) welcomes research use of instruments developed by Dr. Louisa M. T. Silva and her collaborators.
This guidance covers the Autism Parenting Stress Index (APSI), Sense and Self-Regulation Checklist (SSC), and Autism Touch and Self-Regulation Checklist (ATSC).
Before using or reproducing an instrument
- Download the current instrument from the QSTI assessment tools page.
- QSTI instruments are copyrighted and are not public-domain materials. Separate written permission is not required to use or duplicate an unmodified instrument for noncommercial purposes.
- Paper and electronic reproductions must retain the original wording, item order, response choices, scoring, and all copyright, license, and QSTI information.
- Contact QSTI before translating, adapting, shortening, excerpting, changing scoring, distributing a modified version, or using an instrument commercially.
- For a translation, keep the English wording beside the translation during review and send QSTI the final version before use. Do not call it “QSTI-approved” or “QSTI-validated” without written confirmation.
How to cite a QSTI instrument
Cite the instrument in two places: the Methods section and the reference list.
Methods section
Replace the bracketed text with information from your study:
[Outcome] was assessed using the [full instrument name] ([acronym]; [surname and year]). The [version or date] instrument was obtained from the Qigong Sensory Training Institute (QSTI) and used without modification.
If you used an authorized translation, replace the final phrase with:
The authorized [language] version was used with written permission from QSTI.
Reference-list entries
These examples use APA style. Adapt their formatting if another style is required.
