WHAT THERAPISTS SAY
“The QST2 course was extremely well planned and organized, and provided invaluable knowledge base and supports that allowed smooth and effective transition from the classroom to the family home. It is a great demonstration of evidence-based practice at its best! The course connected all the dots from theory, to research, to application with children in practice settings. I was continuously amazed and impressed with all aspects of this training, the spectacular location at Trout Lake, the positive energy, the visual presentations, the tools to handle challenges when working with families, and the celebration of progress with the parents. I look forward to start using QST in my daily practice.”

“Attending an onsite QST workshop allowed me to tap the experience of master trainers. The instructors provided immediate feedback on details of the protocol that are not easy to convey through books or online coursework.  I now have memories of how the massage should feel in my own body.  During breaks, the instructors generously answered my questions about Qigong relevant to my very specialized caseload.  The collegiality of learning with other professionals in a small class setting added even more depth to this career-changing experience.” ~ JoAnn Kennedy, OTD, MS, OTR/L

To what extent and in what ways did the QST2 5-day initial training prepare you to treat a child using QST?
“It was everything! It gave me the knowledge, the tools and the introduced me to the ongoing support as a distance learner.  It was a crucial component to the process.  Without the 5-day initial training, I would not have felt as confident and definitely would not have been as prepared to be a QST therapist.”

“This was an essential component of the training. This was where I received the knowledge, with the wisdom intertwined from personal experience, of the trainers. I gained the hands on experience and feedback to refine what I was learning. The chance to ask questions in the moment and get feedback instantly. The practicing of the form was great. I felt very prepared to start treating clients after the 5 days – felt my form was ready, felt confident in my knowledge base yet knew I have so much more to learn. Felt excited and very keen to get started. It felt so different from many other trainings I have done, I felt so much more prepared.”

“I felt very well-prepared by the theory and the hands-on practice available at the on-site training.”

In what ways did the distance supervision support you in your work with your child?
“In all ways: with consistent email support, phone support and the SKYPE sessions.  We were really given the ‘permission‘ and the confidence to use our supervisor as much or as little as we needed.”

“Oh my, it was essential and so so helpful. It helped me stay confident in the process, the form and in my skill at performing the massage.”

“The distance format makes it possible to have supervision over the course of months with continued supervision.  It allows me to collect my thoughts and communicate with my supervisor by email when it’s convenient.  Supervisors can also reply at their convenience.  I particularly liked the ‘hybrid’ nature of this course with an initial in-person meeting of several days followed by the months of distance learning.”

Audio (or video?) testimonials

The following are QST massage therapist testimonials, taken from interviews on the final day of their training. These autism professionals have just completed the five-month QST2 Dual training program.  Each person answers the following questions: “What was taking this course like for you?” and “What would you tell another therapist who is thinking about taking this course?”
