Dear Therapist,
Welcome to Qigong Sensory Training (QST)! We need your attention to a number of items as you draw close to your QST Course.
Recruit a family
As a QST student you will be working over the next 3-5 months (depending on the course) with a family with a child on the autism spectrum. Before you can start your work together, we ask you to recruit a family with a child that meets the QSTI eligibility criteria.
When reviewing the eligibility criteria for recruiting a family to work with, we added the option of an M-CHAT score in the medium or High Risk ranges (anything above 2), as many of our kiddos do not yet have a diagnosis, but you can do the M-CHAT-R with the family for any child over 18 months. Also think about the parents personality and schedules- will they likely be committed to stick with the demands of the QST daily application, even if the child resists (with you support), and keep the visits schedule (we will have some flexibility week to week, as long as you make it to the group conferences and complete all requirements and 24 visits).
Service on IFSP: MCITP approved that the family you will be working with will be on your case load and your service will be on the IFSP (really nice for your monthly counts!). Therefore, try to find a family that is enrolled in MCITP (contact Orit Tal-Atzili for help with outcomes if needed). You can work with a child that will be transitioning to Part B before the end of the course if you are willing to complete the required treatment sessions after work hours after they transition

Parent Registration & Pre-Testing
Please have your family complete the Parent Registration and Consent Form and scan/email it to Pam Tindall at pam@qsti.org as soon as possible. And share this link with the child's parents to the parent information page so they can complete two additional forms: A checklist describing their child's sensory and self-regulatory behaviors, and a parenting stress index. You will be asking the parents to complete these forms again at the conclusion of the course.
