QST-2 Child Therapist and Parent Trainer Course Information - Portland, Oregon

Course Framework (see table at bottom for complete schedule)
  • Initial Training Weekends – Therapists will meet in Portland, Oregon for 4 days of initial training October 10th - 13th 2019. Clinical Supervision will continue through January 31, 2020. Upon completion of the QST-2 training, students are eligible to take the online QST Down syndrome training available here:
    http://www.qsti.org/qst2-ds.html
  • Clinical Supervision – Therapists will videotape a minimum of three selected QST treatments over four months and review videotapes and progress notes with their supervising therapist.  Most therapists find that distance supervision works well for them.  In-person supervision may be available if a large percentage of the class lives in the Portland area.  If this is the case, supervision dates will be established once the course is fully enrolled and therapists will have the option of reviewing videotape if the in-person supervisions are difficult to attend.

Training Fees and Expenses:
  • Course registration fee – $2,495. The course fee includes all distance clinical supervision.
  • Meals, Transportation and Accommodations – Therapists will need to make arrangements for and cover all their own meals, transportation expenses (including airfare and ground transportation) and accommodations throughout the training.

Expectations:
Therapists participating in the QST-2 Child Therapist and Parent trainer course with distance clinical supervison will need to recruit a family with a child that meets the eligibility criteria (Read eligibility criteria here.) to work with during the course.  In addition, students will facilitate pre- and post-testing, complete all 20 treatments with the child over the 4-month training period, videotape a minimum of three QST treatments, review videotapes and progress notes with their supervising therapist, discuss their case studies on two different occasions and receive a satisfactory assessment of their performance by their supervising therapist..
