Eligibility to Participate in the QST Studies

Trainers/Therapists
In order to become trained in QST, trainers/therapists should:
  • Have at least two years experience working with children with autism and their families;
  • Have an excellent level of general heath; and 
  • Have a strong desire to commit time and energy to learning this intervention.
To become certified QST therapists, individuals must participate in a 38 hour course, including attending 24 hours of supervision sessions, complete a formal written and practical exam, and master the skills required to successfully implement QST.

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders
In order to participate in the QST studies and trainings, children should:
  • Have an educational and/or medical diagnosis of autism; AND
  • Be under 6 years of age; AND
  • Be on little or no medication (Medication reduces the effectiveness of Qigong. The same can be true of supplements); AND 
  • Not be in any intensive medical or behavioral interventions during the QST. (Intensive medical or behavioral interventions should be completed before beginning QST, they are contraindicated at the same time as QST.)
